iTunes will no longer communicate with iPod

After an hour with apple IT group, they felt it was Avast or Microsoft Security Suite. I have turned both off and still it is as if the iPod does not exist. Help

Using two active resident antivirus could spawn many odd problems. You should uninstall one of them (either MSE or Avast).
