Hayc59, did you ever get a working answer to removing the avastSS.scr from you comfuser?

I'm looking to do the same & although Avast support told me to go through the registry, they gave me a non-exising registry key to check; I'm still trying to get the correct info from them.

Not sure what do you mean by "working answer".
If you remove the mentioned file from your disk (either in safe mode, or with self-defense disabled), the screen-saver will be gone - until the next program update which will put it back.
