I tried this some time back...but i uninstalled it...just a over-security.
Isn't that the same as saying that MBAM is over security ??? If the program helps to
protect you or aids in stopping a possible infection without adversely effecting
the OS then where do you draw the line on "over-security" ???

I meant it in terms of web browsing...This addon doesn't give any real time protection for files right?

I think managing Hostsfile, using a secure DNS, using Avast and MBAM Web site blocking function is enough for me as I don't browse any unknown websites and stuff. And, I use Firefox with NoScript and Opera. Both these browsers have their own security features.

So, in a way...Its over security in terms of web browsing :)

It's a little odd for you to call this program over the top considering all the things
you already run on your computer.  ;D
You're right sometimes too much isn't a good thing but, what constitutes too much seems to depend
and vary greatly from user to user.

Since there's no way to tell which is a safe site and which is not,
Your statement of browsing carefully really doesn't hold water. (Sorry, but it's a well known fact.)

Is that bar at the top always there?
Seems a bit of a waste of space no?

No that bar is not always there, it only shows when you click on the drop down button.

There was a discussion on Wilders Security about Bitdefender Traffic Light not being  "that" reliable about "ratings". It gave about always green lights... Hey, it's still "Beta"!  :) But it's blocking and stopping malicious sites and malware sites are renowned. ::)

Hi bob3160,

I have that extension in GoogleChrome and I use it additionally to avast Webrep, WOT and webutation.
It has found issues on sites other scanner did miss. But it is as with all web rep extensions and DrWeb's AV Link Checker as well, you like to have them inside the browser or you would rather stay without.
Just as with dashboard lights, some are minimalists, where other are not. By the way I like the "click to show" function of the Traffic Light Interface and bitdefender's website scan is renowned, and is part of the online VT URL analysis tool,

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

LOL  ;D

I agree...but I browse carefully...I don't download any thing unknown...I got no credit cards...Just a gaming card and my college card...

Yup, I have this habit of install quite a number of pre alpha and beta softwares but then its a valid application.

But then I am half wrong...not fully wrong...just saying ;)

I still think using Hostsman + Avast Shield + WebRep + MBAM Web block function+ Firefox and NoScript or Opera which is powered by AVG is pretty decent web protection..

Yeah, in the end, it differs from user to user...

Edited:

By the way, currently testing Comodo 5.8 Beta...Hoping to find a blame :P

Your comments on this topic are very convincing and I installed Bitdefender Traffic Light again. But I must say that there is one site where this extension is not working. It is http://www.mail.ru/ I can't even see the Traffic Light's button there.
May the FOSS be with you!
