win32:startpage-021(trj)
« on: October 30, 2004, 06:12:33 PM »
XPhome, AMD3000,512ram using dial-up and outlook. Have been infected by above in C:\program files\windows media player\wmplayer.exe.tmp\(up  - no more detail showing. Have used avast updated on 29/10 with vps 0443-3 dated 22/10, have tried boot scan. The only way to move on is to press delete and finish scan, but file is not deleted as re-run shows it still there. the message shown is cannot delete file as it is in use by another program, all other programs were not started and there is no other anti-virus on system. What do I do next? Have checked forum for specific but not found anything, yet. Help appreciated :)

Welcome to the forums.

A search of these forums for win32:startpage will no doubt return many hits as this topic has been  previously discussed a number of times.

If you haven't already got these other anti-malware tools I suggest you download them. startpage is a browser hijacker so requires a different approach.

1. Ad-Aware
2. Spybot Search and Destroy
3. Download HijackThis.zip
