New Free version of Avast
« on: October 30, 2004, 01:10:56 PM »
Noting the update to version 4.1.501 of 29/10/04 which provided a "tiny interim build used to get all avast installations ready for the transition to upcoming version 4.5."

Not having found anything in the 'News' section of the Avast website, can someone please confirm that 4.5 is planned to eventually replace the current Avast Free version?  When is that planned to happen?  Will the replacement version still be free?

Thanks in advance.

Home Edition will be always free. avast! 4.5 will replace current official avast  4.1. They plan it in the end of next week if everything goes well.

aa,

Note that the download and install will be entirely carried out by Avast if you have your program set to auto update.

Makes life simple.  This way if there is any delay of the release, you won't have to worry about missing it.
