Avast 3.11 - ReInstallation issue
« on: July 15, 2011, 04:01:11 AM »
Hello All,

One of my clients just purchased a 3 Mac license and is having issues installing.
Apparently on one of the Macs, there was a previous Avast Free for Mac version installed,
and now every time we try to install, we succeed but when we try to apply the licence, Avast is saying the license is expired.  In the window, it is showing it believes the product was installed  on 06.08.10.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing using a variety of methods, but alas to no avail.

Some More Info

Software is Avast 3.11
Operating System Mac OS 10.5.8

My real issue is I cannot get it to accept the new license file.
Application Expired
The license is invalid or expired.  Without a valid license, you can not use the Avast application anymore.

I have options of Terminate, Uninstall or Change License.

When I try to change license, I select the new valid license, and still I get the Application Expired window.  Remove license does nothing.

Hallo, the license is a normal human-readable textual file, please check its validity first in any text editor (TextEdit from your Applications, for example).

In the case it's really valid, please chekc whether the file isn't modified in any way (one added white-space renders it unusable, it's signed file).

There's no other possible cause (also, some people mistakenly bought license for different procust, please check for AV_MAC string in the license file as well).

regards,

Hi Zilog!

Why does the product keep indicating it was installed on June 8th 2010?
I have uninstalled the product several times.

Here is some data from in the License file itself.
I can assure you, it is the Mac edition.
I can also assure you I didnt alter the file.
I can provide any information you need to prove we did purchase this legitimately.

And yet, it still will not accept the new license.
