Dear Forum,

Would you recommend using 'Registry Cleaner'function in Priform's CCleaner?

The 'scan for issues' function finds many 'Missing Shared Dlls', 'Unused File Extensions', 'Unused Registry Key', 'Open With Application Issue', 'Invalid Default Icon', 'ActiveX/Com Issue', 'Missing TypeLib Reference', 'Installer Reference Issue', 'Help File Issue', 'Obsolete Software Key', 'Missing Startup Software'.

I would be grateful for your advice, suggestions, reports on experience with this function.

Thanks!

I find the registry cleaning of ccleaner quite safe, it doesn't go very deep and it's never taken anything it shouldn't have from my system.
If your worried about what it may delet make a backup image first.

All registry cleaners come with a certain amount of risk, ccleaner isn't a deep cleaning one and safer than most (but still not without risk), id does offer to backup the change and you should take advantage of that.

I decided to fix all of the 794 'issues' it found. Sometimes you have to live a little! ;D

Thanks for the replies and the tip with the backup. I made use of that feature.

Rebooted, and the pooter seemed to start without any problem.

Thought I would share my experience with the forum. Perhaps others can profit from it.

794 issues, what have you been doing, sounds like years of installing and uninstalling applications and they weren't cleaning up when uninstalled.

Never had the bollocks to go mucking around with the registry. Hence, it has never been cleaned.

Seems ok now though.

Way to go.
Ccleaner is quite safe, more so, as you can (and should..!!) make a backup-file...!

Hopefully some month down the road you'll remember this decision and don't come back here
asking for help when some of your programs no longer run...  ;D

I have used CCleaner's registry cleaner as long as I have used avast! and never had a problem!  :)
I have used the backup function and never have needed to use the backup I took!  ;)
