Suggested delay in updating at start
« on: August 16, 2011, 03:28:59 PM »
My copy of Avast! 6 tries to update immediately on starting - but the network connection is not yet established at that time.  It takes several seconds for the WiFi service to establish a connection, because of security negotiations, so I wanted to set a short delay before Avast! tries to download any available updates.  However, there is no visible setting to do this.
Can one be added or does anyone know how to set a delay of a few seconds?
(The activity affects the initiation of other services and applications, so increasing the time taken to reach fully usable state.)

To delay the update of avast into a permanent internet connection (DSL), just change (or add) AlwaysConnectedWaitSeconds value into the [InetWD] section of avast5.ini file.
You could set the number of seconds to wait before attempting to update. The default is 30 but it may not be enough in some DSL systems. In this case, you can try increasing this e.g. to 60 (1 minute). That should be enough.
