Avast and CNET redirect
« on: August 21, 2011, 07:08:18 PM »
When attempting to install Avast on my XP computer, I keep getting redirected to CNET to download. Is this legit?
I've had issues with CNET "Tested Spyware Free" downloads in the past, so I'm a bit leary.

Thanks

Yes, the redirect is legitimate, nothing to worry about. ;)

Not to be a pest, but I downloaded, but don't see it anywhere. Looked in Add/Remove programs and did a search. Hints? Did I not download it?

thanks again

Simply downloading it doesn't install it so you won't see it in add remove programs if you haven't yet installed it.

What is your default download location ?
If you haven't changed anything check in your my documents folder of c:\downloads, etc.

You should be looking for setup_av_free.exe I believe that is the same file.
