Like other add-ons when a new version of firefox is released it is a game of catch up.
- The fact that you don't see the WebRep or it doesn't currently work with the latest version of firefox, doesn't lessen the avast protection. You still have the Network Shield blocking known malicious sites and the Web Shield pre-scanning http content before it is displayed/run in your browser.

The WebRep is purely reputation based on avast user input. Later when the avast! virus labs start inputting information of detected malware, etc. into the webrep database, then it will be more of a security feature than just a reputational tool.

It is reported as not working (incompatibility). But check, it's working.

Are you actually using Firefox 6.0 ?

I am and it isn't compatible and not working, see image.

Yes, further than that I'm with Aurora (Firefox 7).
You just need "Add-on Compatibility Report" addon among yours.

As I said, if you install the Add-on Compatibility Reportter addon and the nightly tester tools, you bypass your incompatibility with add-ons. Then choose wich ones still work or don't work in FF6. WebRep is working fine in FF6, as well as WOT and AVG link checker. 8)

That might well bypass the compatibility check, but what it doesn't do is resolve any actual compatibility issues there might be and for that reason I won't use the nightly tester tools as I'm not using anything other than the regular release versions (as are the greatest majority of users) not alpha nightly builds, etc. etc.

So you certainly can't say it is working with the regular firefox 6.0 as the OP is saying. This is nothing to do with firefox 7 or nightly tester tools but the fact the webrep doesn't work with the regular release of firefox 6.0.

I'm saying the addon works. And it works. It's a fact.
You need to circumvent the compatibility check only.
The addon works.

Yes but that simply fails to take any consideration of the OPs question, it doesn't work with the regular release of firefox 6.0.

In all honesty I don't feel suggesting the Compatibility Reporter add-on and the nightly tester tools unless you are actually using the firefox nightly builds or alpha version, etc. So I don't feel this work around is the best solution; we have absolutely no idea what add-ons the OP has and if there is likely to be any actual compatibility issues with them.

Hello,

I am having the same issue. I just updated to Firefox 6.0 and I get the following message:

"avast! WebRep is incompatible with Firefox 6.0"

I don't see any indication that WebRep is actually working.

So, how do we get WebRep to work with FF6.0?  Is there an update coming?

If you read the thread you will have most of your questions answered, as for a program update well it would have to go through the beta testing first so it could be a while if there was to be a release.
Your best bet is to disable webrep until there is a fix, firefox is updating so quick that it is virtually impossible for all company's to keep up with there new release compatibility issues.

There were no changes that would make WebRep break and there is a fixed release schedule for Firefox, so there was enough time to release an WebRep update BEFORE v6 was released (only needed change was to bump up the compatibility flag in install.rdf, a matter of 5 seconds of work).
The new Firefox release cycle doesn't allow any outward facing API/ABI changes in the beta stage, so there are always at least 6 weeks to test and (if needed) update the extension, no need to wait for the actual release.
That said, just now I'm posting this using Firefox 9, and WebRep is still working.

Ok, thank you for your response.  I am also reading other threads on this topic and will post my other questions there.

Thanks again.
