I do this because I love my forum friends and if I can help even with those small unnoticeable avatars, it makes me unbelievable happy. All my work, all skins (graphic parts) and all avatars I did in Macromedia Fireworks. Program is not specifically meant for making animated gifs, but with few tricks, I can make whatever I imagine. Of course, for all 3D work I use bunch of other programs like Swish3D, Poser, 3D studio and some others... You can never make everything with just one program. Each opne is made specifiaclly for some specific area, and you have to play with others to achive some other effects... import things in, export things out etc.
Macromedia Fireworks was specifically made as an bitmap formats optimising tool for web design (which is btw my field), but if you play enough with it, as I already mentioned earlier in my reply, there is no limit in what you can achieve.
