Computer at risk
« on: August 24, 2011, 03:05:36 AM »
I am using windows XP with explorer 8, recently my hard drive packed up and I had to reinstall everything including the free version of avast, now when I start my computer Avast tells me I am opening an unsafe operation, I just close it and carry on, how can I stop this message? I have run full scan with Malawerbytes and scanned with avast and found no problems. Hope you can help me.

Can you post a screenshot of the Avast warning?

See the picture below my post...

Did you get that warning?

If yes and if you are sure that the software you are installing is safe, then choose Open normally and click on Ok.

Thanks , I am pretty sure now that the problem was my firewall being off.

My avast warning still keeps coming up, and I find windows firewall is turned off again, seems to be a conflict between windows and avast firewalls, Question, has the free version of avast got a firewall? if so,  how can I turn it off, or alternativly turn windows firewall off. Incidently since I got this problem I am flooded with spam mail.  HELP PLEASE. I just turmed cp off, and back on, the warning came up. I clik on the message on the system tray, windows security comes up with firewall off, I close avasts warning and windows firewall comes on. Weird.

Has the free version of avast got a firewall?
No, only the AIS version is antivirus + firewall

Incidently since I got this problem I am flooded with spam mail.
Please, upload (attach) the avast log:
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\Setup.log
or C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\setup.log

If the file is too big for the forum, post the last 400-500 lines of it.

C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\Setup.log
or C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\setup.log
and if only once time ,then you click ok and use normally.
