I'm getting off an on weird firewall popups, apparently unrelated to anything...

Interesting. Any corresponding entries in the firewall's activity log?

Thanks.

I don't recall ever seeing this pop-up, but it seems like it is/would be a nice feature to have.

Firefox 6 and IE8 do not work. Everything else connects with the internet.
Installed no browser. Uninstalled browsers are fine.

yep actually I didn't look, as the detail view didn't show anything but the full list of rules, ie not one in particular. But now that I do look in the activity log, at the exact time when I took the screen shot, it seems to be FreeDownloadManager. How come the popup doesn't tell? thx.

edit: just on a side note, I wasn't downloading anything with FDM at that time, it's just the program that connected for god knows what reason, call home for updates etc...

Win7 64bit Comodo 64bit firewall

Is webshield being allowed through the firewall

Comodo was uninstalled during the last AVAST install, after I wrote the first problem report. I got the same result.
What had happened I had to RMA the motherboard I was using, reinstalled the hardware on the replacement motherboard, fired up the computer, AVAST updated the virus definitions, everything else worked, Quake 3 Arena, Comodo firewall update, but not the browsers.

New behavior shield (6.0.1270/1273) crashes Tencent Messenger (http://im.qq.com/tm/), an IM software similar to Tencent QQ which is widely used in China.

TM crashes seconds after I login. But if I disable the behavior shield before I start TM, it works fine, even if I re-enable the shield while it's still running.

My OS is Vista SP2, and I don't have other security tools running.

Again, I'd appreciate a bit more details about this problem.
Is the software still available in Chinese only?

Also, would you have any dump files that would help us debug the issue?

Do you use a 32-bit or 64-bit OS?

Thanks
Vlk
I'm using a 32-bit OS.

Same problem with Tencent QQ. It quits seconds after user login.
There is an international version available at: http://www.imqq.com/

The full FDM 'consults' with servers for 'opinions' as well, at least the full version does.
It may be that it does a compare of what has been downloaded with the data base.

I know but my question here was why didn't the firewall popup mention the name of the program...

While the 6.0.11xx version worked perfectly well with Windows 2000, it appears that versions 6.0.1270/73 have lost something along the way...
Indeed, I tried the update and now, at the start of the application, I get an error message (in french): "the point of entry of procedure gestaddrinfo is not found in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll" and, of course, the application does not work.
That has happened?
Do you have a solution?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
Happy end for this problem : the release 1279 restores correct operation with Windows 2 K.
Many Thanks to the developers.

I thought you would ;D
I can't find the reference atm on the new 3.8 thread (FDM forum) there has been mention of some issues with firewalls not detecting properly.

Hi. Opera browser will be supported?
I think the answer is 'Maybe' but I think it would be more probable that the script shield is supported in Google Chrome. (Just guessing)
