Site Blocking Issue with Opera 11.50
« on: August 26, 2011, 01:36:39 PM »
Win7 64 bit.  Opera browser . Avast Internet Security.  Add www.vimeo.com to the site blocking list, type in vimeo URL and site is blocked. Go to Google Search , type  "vimeo" , select any result from the vimeo.com list and vimeo.com and all it offers load and videos play.

Try the same with Firefox and the site is blocked.

Yeah it happens to me too. I add www.vimeo.com into the site blocking list and clicking www.vimeo.com link from Google result and the sites load alright without being blocked by Avast (using both Opera and Firefox). Then, I click www.vimeo.com link from Bing result and the sites blocked successfully by Avast (both in Opera and Firefox).

I guess it's something to do with Google rather than Avast fault.

Try Youtube and BBC/iplayer , they appear to work OK in Opera .......

Yeah, I try both and Avast site blocking list successfully block both sites (using Opera and Firefox) either when I enter the URL myself or clicking Bing and Google results link.

So, the problem is Avast site blocking didn't work properly in blocking Vimeo when you click the link to Vimeo from Google search result regardless of what browser that you use (in this case I try it by using Opera and Firefox).
