My versions are:
avast! Administration Console: 1.0.888.14
Mirror info, Program ver.: 6.0.1253

I too suffer from this disease ... BUT, it only started happening after I created a group besides the 2 default groups (default & unmanaged)
After restarting the Avast Console service the clients start poppinng in again.
I created one group called Kermit which contains our SBS, on which the SBC is installed also.
The server itself appears always online (==localhost)
The clients in the default group dissappear once every 2 days or so ...

I hav the latest official versions of SBC and BPP clients.

Are you sure that you have no other security program installed on server or client?
It's so strange... it seem a comunication problem between client and server. Maybe a firewall that block some port or avast netservice on server/client stops.
It's possible?

edit: Do you have a proxy server?

I don't want this issue to be forgotten, it stil happens every few days. Would like to get it solved because it makes the software feel 'unreliable' ...
<complaining mode on>
This together with wilcard paths (*) in the autosandbox feature are the most important issues I am having with the new Avast software. Would like to forget it exists until next definition update  ;D
<complaining mode off>

Going to open an official call for this.
Wrote a Powershell script to restart the avast! administration console (monitor) services, this bypasses the issue but does not solve it !

Can you DNS lookup the server when connection drops.

Yep, everything else works, restarting the avast services on the console server is the solution, so it is a server side issue, not client side I guess ?

yupe, I guess this the server side issue.

I spoke too early

This morning all my clients seem to be disconnected; even the server which hosts the SBC (small business server) seems disconnected (localhost)

Sad ....

Wimmme, please restart the service on the server site.

Until now I'm not see any issue with new SBC.
I have installed on XP SP3, Win2008 R2, and Win2003 SP 2.

I have installed on XP SP3, Win2008 R2, and Win2003 SP 2.

I did, and as before, that solves the problem temporarily. Probably tomorrow the connections with the clients get lost again ....
Re-enabled my scheduled task to restart the services in the morning to stay ahead of the problem ...

Well, pick the name of one of the clients disconnecting itself (not important which one, just focus on one of them). Then open the console, go to Admin->Computer login audit trail and tell me how many login attempts are there related to the picked client. Are there many relogin attempts per day? (you may event attach a screenshot of the listing here).

How many client computers are you using (approximately)?.
