The screenshot doesn't show the version only the digital signature information.

As I said you will have to find out what version is contained within, e.g. hover the mouse over the file it will tell you what version is in there.

Without knowing the version number I can't say what changes have happened.

If you already have avast 6.0.1289 you have the latest program version and any change to the digital signature would reflect the update of the virus definitions contained within the installation package.

Oh, thanks for letting me know that. Now I understand that I have the same version of avast as you but with the updated virus definitions.
Thanks again for your help!

Well, that didn't last long.  About two days to be exact.

Firefox has now released 8.0B1.

I just installed it and WebRep is working with it.

One caveat.  You made need to install the Add-On Compatibility Reporter 0.9.2 from the Firefox Add-on website to get WebRep to work.

The other thing that you need to do is to make sure to check off the avast! WebRep box in the new version of the check of add-ons during the installation of Firefox 8.0B1.  If you forget you can always go to Tools-----Addons--------WebRep click on Enable and restart Firefox.  It should then show up on the Firefox Navigation Toobar when Firefox restarts and be working.

Almost forgot

Below is the link with the enhancements in 8.0.  You will also find a link to the download of 8.0B1 on the link below.

There are a couple of security enhancements in 8.0 including

Quote
WebSockets updates: Firefox now prevents the use of plaintext WebSockets when created from an SSL page, which improves security for users.

Good luck. :)

Just thought I would point out

The current version of the "Update Engine and Virus Definitions" today is in "binary code"; i.e., 1110010  ;D

Detected a bug!!! May be. Some files belonging to my HP Games folder were detected as virus (susp). I think it's the heuristic or behavioral componant because by running a simple scan the files are sane. Uploading them to Jotti or VirusTotal gives me green checked results too. When I try to tell Avast in the scan results to "Ignore the file", well nothing happens!! To quarantine or repair them, I have to boot safe mode and then run Avast result scan screen. Since I had last year the same virus detection problems when using the Comodo 5 suite (which I removed for incompatibilities with some critical Windows Updates), I decided to remove the folder (since I don't use games...!).
Anyways, being the files "sane" I would have kept the folder if Avast would have given me this opportunity. When trying to send or email the file to Avast, I was stopped as a warning message was telling me it was a virus. I'm sure 99% it was FP, though! :(
N.B.:Of course, I had the option of keeping them in quarantine, but did not like it! ;)

This really has nothing to do with the program version as it is a VPS/engine issue and should be reported in the Viruses and Worms forum.

You are partly rigth, but I am reporting about a feature in the scan result (the "IGNORE ACTION") that is not working in the scan result screen. At least, it is what I experienced this afternoon! :P

Rather depends on what you mean by Ignore and what avast means by Ignore. The avast meaning is that it doesn't take any of the normal actions, move to chest, delete, etc. All it does is leave the file in place and takes no action (well nothing happens!! would be a good description of Ignore/take no action), it doesn't send it to the chest or repair it or allow you to run it, etc.

Thanks DavidR, this is now clearer though what I want is to tell Avast to not detect those files as infected again, rather the way PrevX does, to tell the program it's FP and not to detect it again as a virus. Normally, I would have sent them to AILWIL and wait for the next VPS to come but I couldn't send those file because of Avast itself!!! :P
PS: In fact, even by lowering the sensibility to normal, Avast still detected those files as viruses in a screen saver scan for example but in the quarantine they were no longer viruses. Double standard. ???

In which case you need to A) ensure that they are not infected (virustotal), B) send the samples to avast for analysis and C) exclude the files from scans. I don't know why you couldn't send them, you can manually add the file to the chest (copies the file, the original remains in place) and submit the file from the chest.

Submitting the files from the chest, at least for 2 of them, did not work. I did not try to exclude them, it may have been the solution too. But I'd like to see beside the repair and quarantine action in the scan result screen the "False Positive" option with automatical sending to the AVAST VPS laboratory. It would be nice, if not too much work. ;)

This really is time to take this outside this topic as it isn't related now and I will try to help with the problem, as I don't see how it failed (you didn't say). So this needs to continue in its own topic.
