<snip>
- New Script Shield - now scanning deeper and supporting more host processes
- Web Shield now scanning all processes by default
may i know what 's the meaning ? webshield scans every processes try to use internet? and if i want to exlude a process for compatibility reason ?
Questions really should be in a new topic, hopefully we can kill this in this post otherwise it will have to be in a new topic.
It means 'all' HTTP traffic, so other applications, not necessarily browsers which can also make http connections.
No you can't specify which applications or exclude applications, it is either all or nothing with the new feature. You can check the 'Scan traffic from well-known browser processes only' option and that effectively brings the web shield back to scanning as it did before.
i did notice under w7 a higher cosuming of cpu surfing with firefox with web shield ON
<snip>
Essentially surfing with firefox wouldn't change as the web shield isn't scanning anything more in firefox than it was before. But it is hard to say as browsing can be different from day to day and I really don't know how you can attribute the increase in CPU to the web shield as its resource use comes under the avastSvc.exe process. However, the Script Shield may now be scanning some web page content when browsing with firefox now, as mentioned above.
Any response or further questions should be in a new topic.
