Hi. Just let AvastFree AV upgrade itself to ver 6.0.1289. No problems rebooting etc. I can see it has a revamped script shield so I'm wondering if that explains what I'm facing...
Commodo firewall has started asking for new permissions to local loopback port 12080. I have the firewall on Custom to keep more control over rules. Since upgrading Avast, when I open my 32 bit IE9 (in the 32 bit program folder), a winsxs iexplorer.exe file (see below) also now needs permission to the loopback zone, remote address 127.0.0.1: port 12080 :-
C:\Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-i..etexplorer-optional_31bf3856ad364e35_9.4.8112.16421_none_17a944edb4ca4c7a\
iexplorer.exe
It then asks for access to DNS lookup. This was never necessary before as IE9 already has a set of rules. See pic of original rules and new separate one. IE9 isn't the only app now wanting loopback to port 12080 (svchost also wants it for windows update) but it's the only one firing up a winsxs file that never raised itself before. Is there a tidier way for me to set the firewall rules for the script shield, assuming that's the reason, or just live with the new rules?
