VRDB ICON
« on: November 07, 2004, 04:09:36 AM »
Previously while browsing the topics I saw info. on the VRDB icon and why it seemed to "disappear" from the tray, I helped a fellow novice user download AVAST, both icons were there last night, he now says that only the "a' is there, and that he didn't merge them.  how do I find the information (which was extensive) here at the forum so I can help him get VRDB back?

p.s. I right cliked the icon last night  (after the completed download) and started the generating process, was I right in doing that?

What happens if you choose to merge the icons, reboot and then split them?

No he said he didn't do anything to merge the icons, it just wasn't there this morning when he booted up.  How do you get the icon back?

No one merged the icons, when he booted up this morning the "i" icon was missing, how do we retrieve it, and is Virus data base still there?

More info about VRDB could be found on 'FAQ' link in my signature bellow.
To configure VRDB options, see the [VRDB] section in 'Settings' on my signature.

Try one of these ways:

1) Right click the 'a' blue icon and un-merge it choosing the menu VRDB.
or
2) Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
or
3) Uninstall > Boot > Install > Boot

and is Virus data base still there?

Note, VRDB (Virus recovery data base) is not the same as VPS (the virus signature database for detection).
