ZoneAlarm Free is the best free firewall. It works great with avast!.
If it was so great you would stick with zonealarm instead of changing firewalls every other day 
i tried zonealarm once ( enough said ) 
I don't change fw's, I sometimes like to tryout other software. I've had my fill of other fw's.
