resident protection
« on: November 09, 2004, 05:08:39 AM »
Hi there,

I`m new on this forum, and also using this AV.
Have one problem: can not activate or enable my resident protection. Even if I select the standard or the high  mode, It will stay on disable.
What should I do?

Upgrade to 4.5 and see if the problem is solved.

- Right click HERE
- choose "save as"
- browse to the folder c:\program files\alwil software\avast4\setup\
- save the file there as "servers.def"
- overwrite the existing file
- right click on the blue ball with the "A" next to the clock on the taskbar
- choose update
- choose program update

I have followed you untill the right clic on the blue ball. There is no blue ball at all near the clock. I only have the shortcut on my desktop.
What next?
Thank you so much for your patience.

Did you boot (restart) after the installation?
Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair)
