win32 pup virus
« on: September 18, 2011, 01:23:52 AM »
I am running avast as my internet security and after a boot scan got these results:

C:\program files(x86)\Dell Stage\Dell Stage\stage_primary.exe  Low PUP:Win32:PUP-gen[PUP]

C:\ProgramData\Dell\Dell Stage\updates\Update_1.5.420.0\DellStage_1.5.420.0_Update.msi|>disk1.cab|.stage_primary.exe  Low PUP:Win32:PUP-gen[PUP]

C:\Windows\Installer\1085a6.msi|.stage_primary.exe             Low PUP:Win32:PUP-gen[PUP]

And it did not allow me to delete them or put them in the chest, are these malicious viruses?? and how can I remove them from my computer without damages?

Thanks in advance for your help

PUP = Potentially  Unwanted Program   http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/definition/PUP

DellStage - stage_primary.exe   http://www.systemlookup.com/Startup/23483-stage_primary_exe.html

This is a valid entry, but is classified as 'user's choice'.

It may not be needed, but that depends on whether the user deems it necessary.
