Windows 8 is certainly extremely different then my XP with regard to "security updates".
Have not had a security update on Windows 8 since March 13th.
Maybe MS is getting ready for major update. ::)

EDIT: Wouldn't you know it, spoke too soon as I see I just received 8.... Hmm :P

"Perfectly combine the windows 8 user experience with cutting-edge tools
including Basic Editing Tools, Brilliant Visual Effects, Frames, 1-Tap Enhance,
Collage, Text, Tilt Shift and Raw Converter, all bundled together in one powerful package!"
Here is just one example of a simple one button fix on a picture I recently took at the MLPAA property.

Before:

After Using the LandScape Filter

I'd call this pure and simple magic. :) If you've got Windows 8 and you take photos,
this sure makes a difference.

Dominates, interesting choice of word (I know they aren't yours) when win8 has less than just over 3% of the OS market share. It wasn't good reading for Microsoft.

I was just reading an article in Micro Mart, about 'Can Microsoft Really Kill Off Windows XP ?' and it had the OS market stats for March 2013 and win 8 still hasn't even passed Vista and just half for that of Mac OSx.
  • Win7          44.73%
  • Win XP       38.73%
  • Mac OSx      6.33%
  • Vista            4.99%
  • Win8            3.17%
  • The rest
I still don't see a killer function in win 8 that makes it a must have (dominate) upgrade.

Dominates refers to it's "features" not it's market share.

I still don't see the killer function/feature that 'dominates' giving any reason to upgrade. I don't see anything that I don't already have that I need/absolutely must have.
