OK, so now I have Win 8.1 installed via Windows Store free Upgrade and is running Great, how can I get the Install File on CD/DVD or download the Set up file to burn to CD/DVD?
Anyone with the simplest way.  Like Microsoft made it simple. ::)

I did it but you have to trick the downloader to download 8.1 by using a windows 8 key. Then if want to able to use the subsequent burned disc to install 8.1 you have to edit the iso by adding a small text file that also lets you install 8.1 and activate it with your valid Win8 key. Until or even if MS decides to let holders of valid Win8 licenses download the 8.1 iso file this is the only way to get it. I'll post a link to the site that shows you how to do it.
http://www.neowin.net/news/here-is-how-to-get-the-windows-81-iso-and-create-a-usb-install-stick

It will work to upgrade from 8 to 8.1 only and can be useful if you have more than one machine that needs to be upgraded since you won't have to do the download and install from the Windows Store again.

Now if you want to be able to use the usb stick or DVD to do a fresh install of 8.1 you need to do this.

Extract the iso file with something like 7-Zip and add a small text file called ei.cfg to the sources folder. This is what this will do.
Quote
you can create a new file in the sources folder called ei.cfg with the following in it:

[EditionID]
Professional
[Channel]
Retail
[VL]
0

This will make it ask for a key after installation instead of before, and it accepts windows 8 keys.
The file can be created in Notepad. You then will have to burn the iso again to a new disk or you can do the edit before burning it to disk or USB stick. It also only works if you have the pro version. If you have the standard core Win8 then type in Core instead of Professional.  This is all legal by the way since MS is the source of the .cfg file and you still need a valid Win8 key to make it work.

Certainly not straight forward, but as you elude too, no real other option at this time. :-[

Easiest way is to copy the BT folder that is created in C drive after updating to 8.1 to a spare usb, do this before running windows disc clean as once you delet the old file and windows update files they'll be gone for good.

You'll need a legit 8.1 key to install then. A Windows 8 key won't work.
There are workarounds.
But, for me, that upgrade from Windows 7 to 8, my "upgrade" key of Windows 8 is not allowed to be used to a clean installation of Windows 8.1 and even 8...
I can't believe we need to go to underground techniques to use a legit key of Microsoft...

Either use the Store update method or follow the instructions from askVG.
The update through the store worked for me on my Dell MINI except for the change
in the display settings which needed to be redone.

That sux :( So if the xxxx hits the fan I have to re-install 8 then flash my 8.1 image ::) long way round but that still works, keep a copy of the ESD folder as well as the BT folder just for safe keeps.

You can update to Windows 8 and then update Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. That is allowed.
Simply follow the rules. :)

If anything is different in your system compared to what they post there, it does not work.
I've tried 4 times to install Win 8.1. It was the most difficult update to get. Worse, I won't install Windows 7 then upgrade to Windows 8 and then to Windows 8.1 to do a simple "installation" from scratch... :P

The savings may be great if you're updating from Windows 7 or earlier to Windows 8.1
There isn't a great disk space saving if you've updated from Windows 8.  :)

It cleared up just under 4Gb for me with every box possible ticked, also one of Win8 systems that I have which still uses a HDD was 50% fragmented after the 8.1 upgrade so running disc defrag cured the sluggishness.

I cleaned up just under 6GB of space on a 75GB hard drive. I consider that significant. I also did a boot defrag with Puran because I found the drive to be heavily fragmented and the registry in 45 pieces after the update.
