@-midnight
May I suggest that you start your own topic so that we can help you with your personal change over questions
and not take this Topic off course.
Thanks.

@craigb...........Thank you.
No problem :)

As Bod said it is probably better to start your own topic when next needing some information or instructions about these matters, one off questions are fine but these things tend to drag out which is why they are better in your own separate thread.

If Gateway site recommends me to remove my intel driver for my computer before updating to windows 8.1 would I have to or would just updating to windows 8.1 without removing it be fine? Just wanting to see what you guys think before I do the update to win 8.1
OS: Windows 11 64-bit
Webbrowser: Mozilla Firefox
PC Specs: Intel i5-12400f, Nvidia RTX 3050, 16gb ram, 1.5TB SSD(s).

They give a link to the driver downloads page and I checked it and it has the intel driver. I just worried I have bad experience from my old computer when removing and updating drivers

Here is my recommendation:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=9671.msg1018447#msg1018447
Decline the toolbar installation request and uncheck the advanced system care installation request.
This program has never given me a problem with driver updates that don't work.
A follow up to my suggestion:

Is it the graphics driver? Win 8.1 will most likely install a working driver during the update. You then should be able to update it if needed after the Windows update is done. I would do as Gateway suggests.

Do you think it would hurt anything to keep it installed during the update though? Yes It is the Intel Hd Graphics VGA Driver.

Generally it is advised to first remove the current graphics driver before installing another. But how much harm it might do is not really easy to predict.

It is quite possible that you'll have a problem with the update if your current driver isn't compatible or supported in Windows 8.1.

I've had it last as long as 1hr 15mins
Obviously, would depend on how much data and how much maintenance needed :)

Edit: I believe most of that time is the Defrag. and usually not that long

Does it have to redo the tasks if I shutdown my computer and restart it another day?
