Whilst unrelated to win8 - I don't like hibernation either, takes up lots of hard disk space and really doesn't save that much time (I'm never in that much of a hurry). So I just let it go into standby, which the default action when I close my netbook takes about 15 sec to come out of standby and that is fast enough for me.

My laptop is on most of the day and is shut off at night. So neither hibernation or sleep mode are something I use normally.
Sleep mode occasionally; hybernation, never.

I found something called Seven Tips for Customizing Windows 8 - For Dummies. I think some people will find this helpful.

Hibernation is one of the first things I disable
Why?
I find it to be useless to me and a waste of hard drive space. If I'm going to be away from the computer, I shut it down totally. It's always better to start with a fresh boot. Currently, I even have standby turned off. It has lost me too many downloads in the past by shutting down in the middle of things. I just have the monitor shut off after 30 minutes and that's it.

ViStart 8 is another alternative to the missing Start Menu in Windows 8

Lots of features like:

Ultra blur support
Brand new Windows 7 start menu skin
Complete control over skin customization
Custom start menu button support
Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8

(Thanks to AskVG for this suggestion)

There is a new security solution released specifically for Windows 8. It looks like a good one. It has detected 15 infections!

No I didn't install it. I'm just screwing around. The link you posted is where I found it. As you can see, the image at the link you posted also detected 15 infections. The bad guys never sleep.  :D

They could do with brushing up on their spelling grammar and proof reading whilst they aren't sleeping.

Restoring the "delete file" confirmation in Windows 8

( This is disabled by default in Windows 8 )
(I happen to like it disabled but not every one does.)

Can you still completely delete the file  by holding down shift and clicking delete? I personally always do that and never let anything hit the Recycle Bin. If I say delete, that is exactly what I mean, not save it somewhere else.

The delete function hasn't changed.
