I'm having a hard time with Win 8 Pro, especially from installing third party antivirus (their forums are reporting issues with Win 8) , From http://www.eightforums.com/#windows-8-forums I learned that Win 8 protects from 85% of viruses you normally get in other Win OS. Furthermore, WD has an antivirus function in Win 8 so they push us to use their embedded solution! :)
There isn't any problem installing avast! I've been using it for many month. The latest version of avast! is the first third party AV certified Windows 8 compatible:
https://blog.avast.com/2012/11/05/avast-is-first-free-antivirus-to-be-windows-8-compatible/
It certainly does a better job than the default installed in windows 8:

If you're doing a clean install then everything else will be gone.
Make sure that you have access (a backup on an external media)  to any personal stuff you want to restore later.

(Why not download the .iso file, burn it yourself and save some money.)

Nah, I'll probably get the disk.
I'm still not sure as the best way to uninstall Preview copy clean so HD is ready for the Validated Windows PRo install.
Didn't quite follow your response, sorry ??? :)

The start menu replacer for Win8, styled and integrated inside taskbar.

Benefits:
No system files patching
No hooks over system objects
No app-init DLLs
No additional services, drivers, etc
No trash in registry
No installation - just unpack and launch
Small, fast and powerful
Open-source
(I haven't personally tried this program.)
( My favorite is still ClassicShell )

This quite possibly has been mentioned but I had no luck spotting anything.
I've noticed with Win8 that the GUI's of much of my software as well as FF 16.2 I might add that are very small print/font size
Dam hard to read :o
Might anyone have a solution?   :-\

If you can't read your screen anymore and the problem isn't your glasses, try Ctrl + on a PC to enlarge or,
Ctrl - to make the font size smaller.

For a permanent change, use the following:

Select > Make text and other items larger or smaller

Let me know if that solves your problem. :)

If you're using Google Chrome, you can also use the Ctrl Key and the mouse wheel (Up is larger - - Down is smaller)
This also work in IE and probably in Firefox. (I don't have FF installed so can't test it.)

There is another way to accomplish this in chrome and it's explained in the following video:
