The link I supplied only talks about the beta. This same thing held true during beta testing of Windows 8.
I'm currently in Atlanta waiting to start my next climb to the clod.  :)

Download Windows 8.1 Preview

Caution: this version is not the final version and you can't convert from this version to the final release.
If you want to see what 8.1 can do, set it up on a virtual machine or, on a separate partition.

I tried the 8.1 preview and it seems bugged. The right click menu on the new Start Button was nice but just suddenly disappeared and wouldn't come back. I was also unable to pin programs to the Start Screen. That works fine in the Enterprise evaluation but not in the preview. The way you can see all installed apps more easily is pretty nice but the bugs left me with a version that was harder to use than the regular Win8. I didn't try Classic Shell with it because I thought it might conflict with the new Start button too much. The end result is that I completely removed the Win 8 dual boot partition I had and gave the space back to Win 7. The XP machine still has the Enterprise evaluation in dual boot so I'll play with that one when I feel the urge. I'm not reloading the 8.1 preview though. If the bugs get fixed which I'm sure they will, 8.1 will be better than 8.0 but still too different from 7 and other versions to attract that many people I'm afraid.

I actually didn't expect anything different in your "review" based on your general dislike for Windows 8.
Since I'm currently on the road, I can't personally test 8.1. I need this computer to do my presentations and,
will have to wait till I get back home in about 2 weeks.  :)

@ charlotteg
You should start your own 'new topic' here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=23.0 in the French forum as it is unrelated to this topic.
