Has come some distance since I first installed it a year ago. ;)
Yes and IMHO, it's still the best free actual Start Button replacement for Windows 8 and 8.1 :)
I would have to agree.

I am not a windows 8 user yet (Hope to be one after Christmas though ;D)  but i am wondering this right now.. If you don't make a windows 8 local account and just use a MS Account to login.. Does if you were to go for say on another computer go to your MS account outlook and change the password.. Would that also change the windows 8 login?  I'm just wondering as because i wouldn't want my outlook to get hacked and lose access to my future windows 8.1 machine..  Just a bit worried because my e-mails have been hacked about 3 times this year  :-[

On your computer, it's your sign on password.
If it's also you MS account password than it will also sign you into your MS account at the same time.
If you change your MS account Password, then you'll have one for your computer and one for your MS account.

I think that's right but then I have my Win 8 machine set to skip the password entry and boot straight to the desktop. I have never used a Windows password.

Wait. Dch48 its possible to skip and not use a windows password with an Microsoft account on windows 8, or is that only possible with local account?  I have never used a windows password either..  :)

Bypassing the password screen is different from not entering a password or,
the relationship between your Microsoft account and the password used when you sign into windows.
Now you should be totally confused. :)

You have to set a password but you can then tell Windows 8 to log you in automatically without having to enter it every time.

Go to the modern start screen and type  netplwiz  once the box is shown open it and untick the option to sign in and you'll never have to sign in again :)

One more thing is required after unchecking that box. You then are asked to choose an account that will sign in automatically so just choose the default one you set up with whatever user name you chose.

Windows 8.1 is Just Around the Corner, Are You Ready to Switch?
A free upgrade for those already running Windows 8.
The much talked about "Start Button" isn't really a start button.
I still recommend that if you have to have the Start Button, you
download Classic Shell.

I'm not sure I'll bother with getting 8.1. Some of the changes I don't like but then it does have IE 11 so maybe.

There is a lot bug fixes so if you already have Win8 you would be silly not to update imo.

If you already have Windows 8 on your system, you loose NOTHING except the time to do the update.
You do gain a lot of fixes that make the use of Windows 8X easier.
Your programs and settings are all retained when you upgrade.
