CoffeeCup HTML Editor is not appear to my Program Files
« on: September 22, 2011, 10:48:21 AM »
Hi to all

I downloaded CoffeeCup HTML Editor 12 build 373 Retail

but:

I CANNOT SEE THE INSTALLED PROGRAM ON MY LAPTOP.

AT THE INSTALLATION PROCESS EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE OK BUT THE PROGRAM IS NOWHERE!

IS THIS A KIND OF VIRUS?

I HAVE CHECKED ALL OVER PLACES FOLDERS AND FILES ON MY LAPTOP:

C:\Program Files;
C:\Windows;
etc....

I am using MS Win 7 Home Premium 32bit SP1

To be more clear: I observed that when I run the program, the working folder is at: C:\Windows\Temp\GLB45D.tmp

Then all seems to be fine, then I press Next, then I press yes by accepting the license agreement. Again, I press Next where the destination folder is: C:\Program Files\CoffeeCup Software and again Next to install the program. At the end, I pressed finish and then coffee cup is nowhere!

ALL GOING WELL BUT THERE IS NO SUCH PROGRAM AT C:\Program Files\CoffeeCup, also NO SHORTCUT AT MY DESKTOP OR MY START MENU!

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium. DOES CoffeeCup work with Windows 7 OR the version which I downloaded is for Win XP or Other version?

? very strange!

It's the first time in my life that i face such kind of problem...

Below is a link which describes every step which I followed for the installation:

I always using avast. Avast Pro has the sandbox feature but I did not have such problems before! I downloaded and I run (executed) thousands programs and applications with the avast sandbox filtering. Most of those programs which I run, have been opened and installed through avast sandbox without any problem!

Is it ok to try re-installing CoffeeCup without Avast Sandbox? What do you suggest?

Please help!

Well if you ran the installation file in the sandbox, that is where it would remain isolated from the live system, which is the point of the sandbox. So it wouldn't exist in the live system and would also be disguarded when you closed the sandbox.

However, there is another thing to consider, the avast autosandbox may have been involved, suggesting you run it in the sandboxed.

~~~~
The autosandbox process is controlled in the first instance by the file system shield (FSS), the suspect.exe file is scanned before it is allowed to run. If it were infected, it could/should be detected by the FSS, so one reasonable thing in its favour is it hasn't had a definitive detection.
However, the FSS checks other things amongst those a) is the file digitally signed, b) its location and what it does (this is done in the emulation check). these can trigger a suspicion and it is this suspicion that results in the recommendation to use the autosandbox.
Now the user can accept this decision and run it in the autosandbox or have it run normally. Provided of course you are familiar with the program, you downloaded it from a trusted source (makers site) and that it is clean and of course that you intentionally initiated the program.
If you want to run it in sandbox.
Sandbox settings   Exclusions  Add coffeecup.exe
Download from     http://www.coffeecup.com/  Or  http://www.cnet.co.uk/search/coffeecup.htm
It’s a clean Programe so you could just download it.
Thanks a lot!
Is there an additional antivirus program in order to re-scan the location of the software to be sure that my program is virus free before installed execution?
Is it safe by selecting the target folder, then right click my mouse and select to scan with avast the specific software before to install it? Normally avast will find inflected files belonging the specific software, before any run or installation!
You can already take it that avast 'has' scanned it, as my post states, first the file system shield (FSS) scans it, 'if it was considered infected' than that would alert rather than handing it off to the autosandbox if it is clean.
Thanks again!
As a result, if a program filtered with autosandbox then avast will warn me if there is a virus,. If not, then I can normally open the program by skipping the autosandbox.
Provided it meets the criteria that I mentioned in my first reply.
