E-Mail Provider active?
« on: November 10, 2004, 05:33:12 PM »
Hi
I'v installed 4.5 Pro. Something is not clear for me concerning emails. Right-clicking on the blue ball I can see, that ar 5 providers in all, active are 4. On the point stopping providers (in German: Provider anhalten) I do not see internet-mail.
Up to now I did assume, that the rolling blue ball shows me, that the resident-protection is working. Sending mails, the blue ball does not rotate. In 4.1 he did. Activating "detailed info on the performed action" there are no information on sending mails.
Are my outgoing mails scaned or not, and if no why not.
Best regards
housi

You can test it by sending the EICAR test file to yourself.

Bingo! Sending Eicar.com as attachement not possible.  :)
But why there is no information about performed action?

Edited. Sending Eicar.com is also not possible on resident protection not active. TB! said sending not possible with attachement with extension .com.

Log-viewer is empty. Now sending mails no more possible.
What means "internet provider is waiting on start of a subsystem"?

Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs / avast! Antivirus / Change/Remove / Change - and check the list of installed modules.

Is the module for The Bat installed?

Looks like the protection is working. Rename eicar.com to eicar.txt and try to send that to yourself. Make sure you have enabled scanning of outgoing mail.

Means that you do not have any email client available for using the avast email service. Why don't you uninstall that provider?

More than ask for detailed information you can ask for 'show a system tray icon while processing emails'.

Mmh, I think it works now!??! I had to start the subsystem by hand with the button start. Next I'd to give permission on my Firewall for SMTP-Filter for Port 12025 und avast for Port 25.
