These IPs are special and don't exit your system, see image.

I believe this has more to do with ZA paranoia or over sensitive settings.

sf.bin. trying to access the internet. 239.255.255.250 28th 16:50
This is not a ZA problem it is an AVAST problem. I can't configure ZA to turn a blind eye to AVAST. ZA is working perfectly well on my computer.

See Reply #9 & #13. (Also multicast related..!!)
I don't know how sf.bin should be involved in this..???

I would drop ZA, it was good some years ago, but not anymore, imo.

I agree. Your solution reminds me of the patient who sees his Doctor, and says "Hey Doc, it hurts when I move my arm back and forth like this"............And the Dr. says, "Then stop moving it".

Seems easy to me!

 ;D this thread is funny.

this mysterious "connection" which is not really a connection doesnt happen with any other 3rd party firewall and i promise you its not because ZA is better than the others at "catching" things. in fact , the opposite is true. additionally, searching for "avast" on the ZA forums doesnt turn up anything more recent than a year and a half old, http://forums.zonealarm.com/search.php?searchid=2785146&pp=25  indicating to me that there isnt a problem with the 2 softwares under normal conditions. maybe you arent giving sf.bin sufficient priviledges to stop the alerts? it seems to me that you have 2 choices: either change the rule or get used to clicking "allow"

Well, there is a contact form, but what you want them to do or say?

I mean, an Avast developer has give you his answer. Other users are also contributing to this topic.

This is not the expected situation, and most users don't see this happening.

So, why do you think this is not related to ZA or to other system components in your particular case? I mean, why all those are "free to go" and Avast is the real problem?

I am not completely discarding that possibility. I just want to understand (so maybe we can help you better), what makes you think that the "problem" is on Avast side, and not on any other side?

As I was saying a few times already, Sf.bin is not connecting to our servers (unlike other avast! executables) - so we are not "inventing" new IPs for it, those are not our IPs (unless I'm missing something obvious).
Therefore, there's no need to allow the connection - blocking the request is just fine.

Well this is strange. Avast does not have these IP address's but ZA says that sf.bin is asking to connect to them. Flash cs5.5 doesnt have a problem neither does photoshop, dreamwever, ilistratir. indesign. Also Microsoft Visual basic,C#. No problems with windows 7 enterprise and Avast has not detected any AV problems.

@otuatail,

With all due respect, please re-read the complete topic. This doesn't make much sense. Something might be wrong, but apparently it is not Avast.

Block those connections, or take it with ZA, or use the special removal tool of Avast (http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility) to uninstall Avast under Windows Safe Mode, delete all firewall rules related to Avast, and reinstall Avast anew.

Then the firewall should request again for the correct permissions (avastsvc.exe, avastui.exe, avast.setup...).

Other than that, I don't think there is much to do on Avast side.

If you want to contact avast here is the link...http://www.avast.com/en-us/support
Just "don't" use the phone numbers as they will direct you to a third party support. And they will probably do a "hard sell" on you. your best bet is here on the forums.  :)

edit: Why are you using ZoneAlarm as obviously there could be a conflict?  ???
