Hi,
I have been having serious problems with the SMTP service stopping right after being started. Occasionaly this adversely affected the IIS Admin service as well. After a support call to Microsoft PSS and a lengthly period of diagnostic testing, their recommendation was to turn off Anti virus on the Exchange Server.
I have stopped the SMTP provider, choosing to leave the Exchange Server provider running, and restarted the SMTP service on the server. Since that time there have been no event log errors.
Is there a known problem with Avast that is causing this?
