Number of viruses
« on: October 27, 2011, 11:37:21 PM »
A recent message from Avast reported that the  "Total (number of new viruses) added in the last 30 days:117744".

Really? Are you saying that someone (or some group) in the last 30 days deliberately generated more than 100,000 malicious ways to screw other pc users? Incredible.

I may be naive but why would anyone go to that effort?

Hi wdc202,

Malcreants do not do that overnight, and they do it very rapidly while most malcreations are generated rather automattically. As you infect an Internet site every few secs, you will end up with a lot of malware to deal with rather soon,

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!
