Windows 7-64Bit Network Notification Shows No Internet Access
« on: September 30, 2011, 08:00:52 PM »
Using Windows 7 64 Bit---- When Connected to Internet The Network Icon Shows a yellow Triangle with an exclamation point and Gives the message No Internet Access when actually connected to the Network and to the Internet.  Disabling network adapter and Avast! then re-enabling them will sometimes but not always solve the problem.  Any Ideas?  Contacted Avast! and they said they would study the problem and maybe provide a fix in a future edition.

There are already several reports of this type of behaviour (search the forum).

You could try 2 possibilities (either one of them or both).

1:
Avast main GUI -> settings -> troubleshooting -> "load avast service only after other system services".

2:
Avast main GUI -> webshield -> EXPERT settings -> "...well known browsers only".

In each case, please REBOOT after changing any of those settings before testing.

I say this option. For starters, WIN 7 dials out at boot to establish "network awareness." If it can't connect to a MS url, the toolbar network icon will show the behavior you are describing. Ref: http://blog.superuser.com/2011/05/16/windows-7-network-awareness/

I am strongly beginning to believe that the 6.0.1289 outbound web site protection for all connections not ready for prime time.
