How to open a port ?
« on: October 04, 2011, 10:40:01 AM »
Hi,

I have a problem with avast (6.0, free). If the web agent is running, i can't go on the Internet and i have this page:

If it's not running, i don't have any problem to surf on the web.

How can i open the port 8118 ?

Thanks and sorry for my bad English

OK ! It's done !!!

In Settings/Troubleshooting/Redirect Settings, I delete the 80 and now, it perfectly works.

Are you use a third party firewall and have you set avast to allow all in the applications of the firewall, not necessary for the windows firewall.

Also in the web shield settings you could try ticking scan well known browser proesses only and see if that helps.

All you have done is stop avast from scanning your web traffic  :o

Oups :-X

I use the windows firewall by default. And I never touched to the settings of avast (I just delete the port 80 but it's not the good solution)

Also in the web shield settings you could try ticking scan processes from well known browser proesses only and see if that helps.

Ok, i'll try it !

Apparently, instead of deleting port 80, you add port 8118 for privoxy.

Well I think that is likely to stop scanning privoxy traffic, and presumably you don't want to do that ?

Did you also uncheck the Ignore local communication option as the privoxy traffic would probably be considered local traffic.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I didn't uncheck the Ignore local communication option... I'll try it and i'll edit my message.

EDIT : No, if i uncheck the local communication, it doesn't work. I must check the "ticking scan processes from well known browser processes only".
