Can you send me a short notice when the problem is solved, so I can update my system?

Will the changes be bone in the updates as well?

Regards

Hi, soryy that I'm crossposting, but I have the impression that aswtdi.sys causes other problems too (and this is Windows XP Pro):

Hi, I get predictable BSOD's due to aswtdi.sys:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Stop 0X000000D1
aswTdi.sys address F78B1465 base at F78B0000 datestamp 4194e9af

I have tried to copy the older version (28672 bytes datestamp 41962174) over the crashing one (32048), but both XP and avast itself recopy the bad one.

My system now predictably crashes within 30-45 minutes!

I now stopped On-Access protection and hope my system will not crash! I urgently need a new good version that doesn't crash!

Note that the 'old' aswtdi.sys that I mention, was obtained from the http://www2.asw.cz/~vlk/aswTdi.sys link I saw in this thread.

Hi,

is the problem with aswtdi.sys and NT4 solved? What do I have to do to get AVAST running "normally" again?

Update avast! to build 4.5.523 (by invoking a program update).

Great work (I guess it was a stressy night  ;)).

The update worked perfect and the system appears to be stable again.

Greetings

Hi,

I'm also having trouble with Avast since yesterday I think.

I'm on Microsoft Windows XP build 2600.xpsp_2_rtm.04803-2158 service pack 2, home edition, japanese language.

I use automatic update for Avast 4.

When I try to re-boot after install, I just have time to see a black screen: the Windows logo screen with progress bar stops abruptly, and a black screen appears for 1tenth of a second.
I filmed the screen, the message is approximately
"bad_pool_caller"  then "remove hardware or software, disable BIOS memory options (cache or shadow) ..." then this code (some zeroes are missing) STOP: 0x000000C2 0x000040 0x0000000 0x8000000 0x000000

I can't find no recent minidump files.

I looked at the forum (after having uninstalled AVAST), the aswtdi.sys file tip doesn't work with my system (eather with 28k or 31k file size).

I had to reboot to safe mode, uninstall and reinstall but when AVAST is installed I get the same reboot. I tried english, french and japanese version but it doesn't help.

what can I do now? I don't have no anti-virus installed any more...

Hi,

try to delete the aswtdi.sys file, restart your system (The AVAST symbol in the taskbar should be OK) and update your system. Since last night a new updated version of AVAST 4.5 exists. It solved all my problems.
