Recently installed avast4home in toshiba laptop with win 98se.

How do I disable avast (temporarily) before installation of a program or critical update?

Right click on the avast icon in the system tray hover the mouse over, 'Pause Provider' and select Standard Shield. To resume afterwards, right click icon again hover over, 'Resume Provider' and click Standard Shield.

I don't have to disable avast to install any other software...
Well, in fact, I had to when I install GoBack from Symantec but I never do when I update Windows or any other program  8)
