unscanable files
« on: August 13, 2003, 04:25:43 AM »
when doing a system scan,at the end of the scan it list the results of the scan and looking down the list there are about 20 or more files from c:/documents and settings that say unable to scan next to them, when i right click and try to scan any one of them it says an error has occured during the process, does this have anything to do with in system tray avast icon when i open it on the advanced tab at the bottom it says-here you can modify the list of locations that will not be scanned or tested?if so should i leave everything on the list(advanced tab)there, thanks brian

Hi Brian,

1. which files are tagged as uncleanable (give us some file names)
2. what reason does avast give exactly? The message is usually in the form

Unable to scan: <here-is-why>.

Thanks,
Vlk

Hmm,

c:\documents and settings\default.htm-unable to scan:a
c:\documents and settings\header.vbs-unable to scan:a
c:\program files\java2re1.402/lib/manifest.mf-unable to scan:z
...

you need to enlarge the window to see the rest of the message. ;)
(the reason why it was 'unable to scan').

i did another scan and in the box with unscannable files after scan i tried to inlarge but you cant, there is no maximize button on top only minimize and close,i tried to inlarge by pulling all sides but still does not give a reason,it reads exactly as i wrote it out above?
