I'm running Win8b8102 and wanted to install some AV because I might be doing some hazardous stuff (I don't always run one, because I know how to avoid infections effectively without). As such I turned to my favorite AV that I recommend to everybody - Avast. Installing it, expect it to work fine due to the OS similarity to Win7 (when you disable metro it's mostly just a program and kernel update). It installs fine, and then the service will not start. I am willing to go as far as to strip the protection system that blocks Avast out of the OS by hand if need be, but I need details. What stops the service from starting?
More ideally, has any progress been made on a Win8-supporting version of Avast, or a way to get the current version working without such drastic measures as I proposed above?
Thanks.
PS - to Avast team if ya read this: keep being awesome, and keep having a free version. xD
