Avast Free Popup Trial Ad Question
« on: October 18, 2011, 04:26:00 PM »
I just got a Popup ad to try Avast Internet Security. What my question is is how often is that going to be popping up on me?

I thought the only ad was in the GUI on the main page.

The GUI of avast6 free version has always had an ad/offer on main Summary section, that will change from time to time. I have no problem with it as it isn't in anyway intrusive and that really is the way it should stay.

Though there are periodic pop-ups, the toaster style one which isn't a hassle and the full blown in your face one which is a pain in the ass. Which one did you get ?

Yes, but there are two different styles of pop-up ad, the toaster style like the update notifications, etc. or the full blown in your face center screen over everything else, focus stealing, pain in the ass pop-up. As you might have noticed I'm not in favour of this type of ad.

yes,i'm not either, but if it happens once in a blue moon,it's tolerable, unlike avira etc. which does it after every update; now that's annoying as heck.

besides, even the full blown ad,avast's looks better.

Ive just got the Big ad that takes up the whole screen almost. Kinda pisses me off that Avast is doing that. YES we know there is a Paid version. its offered at registration, in the GUI. etc. no need for the LARGE ad like that.

some ppl rarely use gui,so they just send the ad 4 everyone  ;D

anyway, i do believe it won't be a regular thing,so shouldn't be a serious issue.

At least currently, the only known reason for "frequent" ad pop ups is if you are using one of the trial versions, or if your free registration is about to expire (or already expired).

Other than that, it is sporadically presented once in a while.
