Chrome
« on: October 18, 2011, 12:38:25 PM »
10 minutes ago I was browsing the web with Chrome, when Avast popped up a message, suggesting to install Chrome. I thought, it did not check if I already have it. Then 5 minutes ago, when I re-opened Chrome, Windows: File does not exist.

My question is: Why did avast remove Chrome?

Considering the fact that I did not remove, and nothing else I can think about could have happened in 5 minutes, I do think avast did it. Is there any way to see if it did for real?

Weird... Restarted, Chrome is here. But it kind of reinstalled itself, because I have my history (by default it does not get deleted upon uninstalling Chrome). But extensions (I only use adBlock Plus Beta + Avast WebRep which avast reinstalled with Chrome I guess) so it's just a click to get it back again) were removed.

Thanks for the tip. It's still a bit of a mystery though.

You're welcome..!
Did you allow avast! to install chrome..??
If so, maybe it installed over your existing installation. Just a guess, though.

I just clicked the [X] on the popup, since I already had it installed.

Well... You've done something wrong... Why do you ever think avast is responsible for that?

Well... I can't think in other thing than downloading Chrome again and reinstalling it.
