Clients not updating with server on non-standard port
« on: October 19, 2011, 06:48:09 PM »
I had an existing service using port 80 on my Console install so I moved Avast to port 81 and switched it in Advanced setting to utilize port 81, however all my clients are still trying to pull updates from port 80 which fails.  Where can I change the clients to pull from port 81?  Or can I assign another IP to my server and use port 80 there and if so, how to I get Avast clients to see the new IP address as the Avast Server Console?

Thanks

Yes.  Initially installed with first released version.  Upgraded to 1.1.131.7 yesterday with no difference.  Tried removing and reinstalling client on single machine thinking the installer would have updated but it still tries pulling from port 80.

Hi Zorker,
go to Network->Group view, select settings of the group your clients belong to. Then select Expert settings. You will find a key avastcfg://avast5/Common/MirrorURL with value of type http://hostname/Avast/Mirror. Change it to something like http://hostname:81/Avast/Mirror and you should be just fine.

Sidenote: We will hopefully update this behavior in near future so that just one place will have to be modified in case of website port change.

Thx. Jan.
