Is this a false positive?
« on: October 22, 2011, 04:11:42 AM »
While performing a full scan, I believe false positives were occurring when the HP Games folder was being scanned. Only certain games, the exe files, were indicated to be suspicious in nature with Win32:BogEnt. Results varied from scan to scan regarding which game was "infected".

Yesterday's (10-20-2011) full scan yielded a "No Threat Detected" result.

When a full scan is performed, I have turned on to scan for PUP and suspicious files. Heuristics setting set at HIGH.

System is Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit).

Is this a false positive?

Hey, its most likely a false one. why do you scan with the pup?

its only searching for unknown potential malware.

you can upload the file to jotti virusscan to check the files with 20 antimalwareprograms.

http://virusscan.jotti.org/en

virustotal.com seems not be accessibly atm.

and post the result here.

good luck

Thanks for your assistance, and for your tip.

It's definitely a false positive. It appears to be caused by having the code emulation setting turned on. By turning it off, a "No Threat Detected" result is returned.
