I want to thank you all for the responses and suggestions.

I don't know if someone from Avast Team saw this topic, some email get somewhere, or whatever else that could have happened, but the fact is that the message posted in the attached picture in the first post is no longer there, and I would say it *seems* the page is loading a little bit faster than before.

If this changes again, I'll certainly post again here, and I invite anyone else to re-test the blog page again so to check if anything is different now from what was happening / being experienced before (whether in speed, messages, scripts or whatever).

Anything new / different for anyone?

TIA.

@ady4um,

It isn't solved for me in Chrome. This still appears when going to the article's website:

I guess you just got lucky. :)

From what I see when trying to load the blog, the facebook like box is the last thing to load and it takes a while...

Maybe try my previous suggestion?

Well, it can't be just random, can it?

What happens if you block facebook? Try blocking facebook.* (like facebook.com AND facebook.net AND ...). Does it help?

I have no idea which script is there that can be so heavy to cause such a problem. It's just a blog!!!

I'll try to keep hoping for some input from the webmaster or someone from Avast Team (just because hope is the last thing to loose).

Use NoScript. ;)

Use NoScript. ;)

 ??? You are on FF, but for IE and/or Chrome!?

Anyway, what kind of such heavy script is needed for a simple blog web page? And why it is being so heavy in certain conditions and not others? What are those certain conditions?

Well, that means that there is some potential workaround for some users. I'd like to see this heavy script solved (as in not heavy anymore or gone away completely) for all users, even if it is not showing up in my personal system anymore (but evidently it is still present for others). This would be a real solution, not only a partial potential workaround.

Well, I understand what you want, but I can only offer a workaround. ;)
Further, if this should be related to FB, I doubt they will drop the script.

The other workaround is to avoid the website which is what many will do so,
the problem needs to be addressed.
I personally don't like using noscript in Chrome.

Of course, and I thank you for it. I'm just saying that your post is one potential way of workaround, but not a real solution. My comment was not discarding or contradicting yours, but more aimed to Avast Team (or whoever manages the blog pages), rather than to you :).

But that's exactly my point. Whatever the script does, whether for FB or whatever else, it shouldn't be so heavy to produce this type of results, IMHO.

Avast Team: It's a simple blog!!! Either find a solution to simplify the page (or to reduce / avoid the scripts), or the purpose of the blog would not be achieved: users frequently seeing and reading news related to Avast and its community.

The bottom line is that the blog is one of several marketing tools. Less users reading it, or users having problems to open what's suppose to be a simple blog page, is simply bad PR. For example, you wouldn't want that script problem to appear in some magazine about some of the news in Avast's blog, would you?

@Scot,

Just to be clear, I indeed read you post, but in my case the blog is currently loading correctly, so I can't test your suggestion. I have no idea why it works now and it wasn't before.

Apparently IE is not the only factor: also Chrome seems to be failing in some situations (Bob's report) and IE is not failing in every environment but only under some conditions (YoKenny's report under XP and Seven).

I wish other users still having this problem could pay attention to your suggestion, try it and report back.

I still think this should be taken care by Avast Team or whoever is responsible for the blog web pages. I'm sure we can provide more details if they request them so to solve this.
