Hi,

The issue can be due to the corrupted ashoutxt.dll file in avast!. So what you need to do is, to do a complete re-installation from scratch. It will fix it.

Please reply us back.

Have a wonderful day. Good Karma! :)

Thanks for the additional info.  Could you please direct me as to how to completely remove the Avast free I have and then re-install it again?  (I seem to recall seeing something once that I need to use some kind of Avast removal tool in order to completely remove everything from the computer before doing a clean re-install).

Thanks again!

Just a normal uninstall reboot and reinstall should be fine, your last post mentioned that it all worked fine when you tried again so it might of just been a glitch.

Well this stuff of good k@rma is taking my nerves too...

[off-topic]
When you see it in every post on every signature and every profile on the left of every sodding post, it make me want to throw up.

I hate having this cr*p shoved down my throat on every post, it just seems so false.

All I feel is bad k@rma.

For CraigB

I appreciate the additional info!  I actually would prefer NOT to have to do an uninstall/re-install, since the particular message I mentioned in my first post has only appeared a couple of other times in the time I've had Avast free installed.  I think you are probably correct that it may indeed just be a transitory glitch.

Thanks again for the help!

If you absolutely aren't using MS Outlook, then you can uncheck the Outlook options in the Mail-Shield, Expert Settings, Behavior, MS Outlook only section. Then open the MS Outlook, and disable the avast plug-in.

You didn't mention which version of Outlook is on your system (part of MS Office), so here is one to check:
Outlook 2007 > Tools > Trust center > Add-ins >

If you have a different version then you will have to check the help file.

Thanks very much CraigB and DavidR for the additional info!

Sorry I neglected to mention what version of Outlook I have.  It is Outlook 2003.

Best regards!  :)

Very funny... :o ::) ;D

I do not use Outlook (at least not that I'm aware of).

Strange, as your screenshot says you do...

Since the comment says "I do not use Outlook (at least not that I'm aware of)" and not I don't have Outlook, it isn't so strange/funny.

MS Outlook comes with MS Orifice and may well be started automatically due to settings in MS Orifice.
