Windows 7 hang
« on: November 14, 2011, 12:40:30 PM »
I just bought a asus notebook with windows 7 SP1 home edition, i installed Avast free edition from the website. upon initial scanning after the install, laptop stop responding. I force reboot then after start up, the laptop is not responding, i have uninstall avast via safe mode. after reboot the laptop is working fine(without avast)... any known issues of avast in win7?

Any other security program that could interfere?
Which was your old antivirus before avast?

Not really, but as this is a new notebook, there may be a preinstalled AV, which might cause troubles.

Im fairly sure you'll have Trendmicro preinstalled in an asus, ( could be norton or McAfee though ) follow Asyn's link to download the removal tool and run after deleting your AV first via programs and features.

After deting from remove programs reboot then run the removal tool and reboot again, if you haven't already removed avast you can try a repair via remove programs but if it doesn't work you will have to do a clean install as having TM installed originally might have corrupted the avast install.
