Malicious URL blocked.
« on: November 23, 2011, 02:03:50 PM »
Hi,

For the past couple of days I am getting "Malicious URL Blocked" error message when I tried to download any email attachments from my yahoo mail. I can view/download attachments from my gmail and live accounts without any problems. But when avast! shiledsa are disabled everything is working fine. I have windows xp professional sp3 with avast 6.0.1289 installed. I tried to add exclusion for yahoo mail in the Script Shiled and Web Shiled. But no go. There are no entries in the Virus Chest too. I tried to repair avast and even I did a clean reinstallation using the removal tool from avast. But still no go. Please help me to fix this..

Regards,

Tom

Just now my friend got the same issue.I think if we click on the attachment, Norton online scanner will come up. that is creating the problem with avast

any ideas ??

Is your friend using the latest program version and the latest definitions version?

New to forum - having the same issue as note below using Yahoo mail and trying to open legitimate Word attachments - any advice would be appreciated thanks.

- just happened todayYahoo mail has a PDF attachment from a valid source. This is a legitimate attachment that was expected from a bank, not just a random email.
Clicking on Open or Download causes Avast to show the red message and block a "malicious URL".
This has to be a false positive. Yahoo certifies they scanned the message with Norton. If I disable Avast, download the file and scan with avast, it is clean. This is happening with other pdf attachments on yahoo today as well.

I guess this issue probably will be "re-resolved" in a couple of definitions updates, just as last week.
