right click on Avast blue ball, select  "On Access protection Control", Select then "Standard Shield" . I have then High - to see the detailled settings click on customize - then You have a lot of tabs - take a look at them.

My settings are : Protection High
in Scanner (Basic) : all checked
in Scanner (Advanced) :
Scan files on Open - checked
Always scan WSH-Scrip files - checked
Scan Created/modified Files - checked
All Files - checked

If you use avast! 4.5 then it should detect it regardless the sensitivity level.
In avast! 4.1 its detected only on High Sensitivity (Standard Shield)

@Neron: the only thing I'm sure is that the settings work fine for me cause I want to scan everything modified or saved on my harddisk

@RejZoR : what is the difference between Low/High/Customize, I'm a little confused now - are the settings in the customized tabs only if You choose customized ?

I have done the original settings in 4.1 and not changed it after upgrade

Well, works fine here with Internet Explorer and Firefox - tried it with both now and was able to delete it and mkove it to chest - are You sure the eicar.com file is in the temporary files directory - I've found the eicar.css file which does not contain the eicar test signature.

btw - my OS is W2K Prof

Avast didn't detected eicar and when i scanned the file avast detected it.I think my settings are wrong but i didn't changed any of them
Standart shield setting(sustomize)
Scaner basic-all checkt
advanced:
scan files on open checkt
always scan wsh script files-checkt
scan created modified files-uncheckt(i think that this is the reason)
sensitivity:Normal
Please help quick becouse i'm afarid i'm not protected
Thanks!!!

and when i scanned the file avast detected it
So what is the problem? Avast uses on-access, that means a file is scanned when you acces it. Create the eicar test file as instructed and try to move it around on your system. See if Avast gives an alert.

To test it for your mail, use the last link in my previous post.
