Scheduling + Help
« on: November 20, 2004, 02:48:26 AM »
Hi;
New to Avast, so still feeling my way around it. Two specific things at the moment:
- I can't find any way to schedule the scanning, and
- Is there a Help page?
- Oh yea, one other thing, when I'm doing a scan, it says "not scanning in Archives". I would think that I would want to do that....how can I change that?
Thanks so much....seems to be a great product so far!!

I can't find any way to schedule the scanning

Only possible in Professional version.

Is there a Help page?

Nope. Only help file and the forums. You won't need more, believe us  8)

In the sensitivity os scanning should be an option for Scan archives.

Thanks Technical, for the speedy response. So if I understand you correctly, scanning can only be done manually, with the free edition. Given that the fact Avast has the "always on" resident protection, any suggestions as to how often it's necessary to do a scan? (I was using AVG before, and I'm not used to the resident protection, as well as non scheduled scanning)
Thanks again!

Swinny :)

There is a way to do it with the home version also. It is explained somewhere on this board. Use the search option.

HERE is a possible way.

How often it's necessary to do a scan?

Once a week should be enough... Do when you're not using the computer.

Well, the resident protection is the most effective one  8)

To Eddy: sure there is the ashQuick.exe method but, remember, not configurable, archive files scanning (pakers) are different from the Pro version, etc.
